Tell us a little about yourself?

Mom of two, with one entering her 3rd year of college and the other starting his first year of high school. I have been with Verizon for 32 years. Although I received my Associates degree in 2011, I chose to take some time off, as my son was just entering Kindergarten. Time flew fast, and I realized it was time to put my personal goal back on track and pursue my Bachelor’s degree. I started this most recent journey in July 2019 and have really enjoyed the classes I have taken so far.

What has been your experience working with your advisor?

Adam has been excellent. I always know he is a phone call or text away to answer any questions or guide me through the next steps. He is respectful of my time as a full-time employee and is always available with my schedule.

What did you enjoy most about learning in the GDC?

I have enjoyed the self-paced aspect in the GDC. Working full-time and parenting brings different obstacles at different times, so knowing I can adjust my schedule when needed is the most important aspect for me.

What should VTeamers know about this experience?

While challenging, it is easier than you may realize! The format of each of the classes is quite easy to follow, and the resources you need are all in one area. Having the ability to see what is required for each class helps you plan ahead and more effectively manage your time.

Tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Camaron Vogt. I’m a Managing Partner in Business sales. I’ve worked for Verizon for 16 years now and have held multiple jobs within the organization. When I started my career, I didn’t have a college education and honestly wasn’t sure I needed one. As I’ve aged in life and my career, I’ve started to realize that my education is more important now than ever before. I’ve always wanted to get an education but didn’t think I would have the time or money to make it happen. I also didn’t really understand the impact going to school would have on my career.

What did you enjoy most about learning in the GDC?

The learning experience at GDC is great because it’s self-paced and allows the freedom to take breaks when I’m busy and accelerate my school work, when I have free time. It’s self-paced, easy to understand and inexpensive so your Verizon tuition money goes further.

What should VTeamers know about this experience?

Going to college can seem overwhelming and scary to a lot of people. You probably think you don’t have the time for it and maybe even think it’s going to be too hard. It’s not! You have time time and you have to people around you to help set you up for success. I wish I would’ve started this journey when I started working for Verizon. If you’re thinking to yourself “I really should go/go back to college” than you should reach out to a consultant and get started. Don’t regret waiting like I did.

Tell us a little about yourself?

I’m a business professional with 20 years under my belt at Verizon. I had been back to college several times since initially attending after high school. Each time, I would burn out or prioritize other things over finishing my degree. It was time to invest in myself and earn my degree.

What has been your experience working with your advisor?

My advisor, Adam Kenworthy, has been incredible. He started by understanding my academic goals and timeline, then helped me to achieve them. He has regularly checked up on my progress to keep me motivated. Communication with him has been so convenient. We have used email, text, and phone calls to coordinate classes and answer all of my questions. We were able to add additional classes to my course plan after evaluating and reevaluating my progress several times. He provided me with the templates that I needed for transfer articulation to get credit for all classes I’ve taken at my graduating university. He has even involved me in evaluating new opportunities within Pearson when they fit my degree plan so that I could save time and money

What did you enjoy most about learning in the GDC?

The best thing about GDC is the flexibility. My work schedule varies greatly. Sometimes I have little to no time in a day to dedicate to school. Other days, I could spend hours working toward my degree. The online experience gives me the flexibility to complete coursework on my time and at my own pace. I had set an accelerated goal of completing my Bachelor’s degree within 18 months. GDC gave me the ability to do that while still maintaining the high level of quality work that I’m known for at Verizon.
